Just Us Girls #377 - Color Week

Hi friends!  It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Chris has chosen a really great combo!

I thought it would make a nice Valentine card for my hubby.  He hates pink, but I think the navy and gray set it off nicely.  I got this new die from MFT at my LSS last weekend.  Cool die!  There's one to make the vertical stitches in the cardstock and another to die cut the hearts.  I die cut them from the three challenge colors and arranged them on the white stitched panel.  Then I just layered the onto the three colors of cardstock.  The sentiment on the banner was embossed in white embossing powder.  The base panel was impressed with an Essentials by Ellen die.  There's Spectrum Noir shimmer on each heart.

Time Out #75 - CASE Challenge

Hello!  There's a new Time Out challenge going on for the next two weeks.  It's our CASE challenge.  We have a great card to CASE this week.

This pretty card is by Ksenija.  Lots of inspiration to CASE!

Well, I thought Christmas when I saw this.  Probably the red and green got me thinking that way.  And I thought I'd try to do a few a month so I'm not fretting a month before Christmas!  (Let's see how that goes!)  I pulled out this border set by PTI and also some new fabulous inks from Catherine Pooler Designs.  They really stamp nicely and the colors are so vivid!  Also, they stamped these new stamps beautifully.  I did use my MISTI, but they stamped the new stamp so much better that other ink pads.  After I stamped the green and red images, I made sure it was dry and then stamped the pine branches in Versamark and embossed it in antique gold powder.  Love the look.  I think I saw one of the PTI designers do this and that's where I got the idea.  I then stamped the sentiment with Versamark and used the same powder.  I added gold sequins randomly.  On Kesenija's card, she had some stamping on her background.  I stamped the pine branch around the red piece in Versamark ink, but you can barely see it.  I've got to make more of these!

This challenge is sponsored by Happy Little Stampers.  Check out the Time Out blog for more information and to see cards by the design team and our guest, Marjan.

Just Us Girls #376 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  This week over at Just Us Girls we are stamping all over!  Bobby chose a great challenge for our Trend Week.  We are seeing lots of small stamps being used to stamp a background.

I saw that Papertrey Ink is releasing a new paisley set, and it got me thinking about this paisley set I have from WPlus9.  I stamped the paisley patterns and some flowers on Bristol smooth white cardstock in Versamark and embossed them with white embossing powder.  Then I sponged yellow and blue Distress inks in different spots around the paper.  The sentiment was die cut four times from black cardstock and layered together.  I also die cut the shadow of the word in vellum and layered it under the black word.  I mounted it on black cardstock then onto a white base.  Sequins and some Spectrum Noir shimmer on the die cut were the finishing touches.

I chose my color scheme from this week's Color Throwdown challenge.

Just Us Girls #375 - Word Week

Hi all!  The Just Us Girls challenge is back into high gear after our short holiday hiatus.  This week is our word week and Ina appropriately chose the word NEW

I made this card the day before New Year's Eve.  I was thinking about the celebration in Times Square in NYC, so I pulled out this NYC skyline die that I just had to have.  I die cut it from black cardstock then went to work creating the night sky.  I googled night skies to use as a guide.  I started with a light blue ink, then picked up a darker blue.  I then used a purple and some black ink to darken the sky.  I left a lighter spot where the Statue of Liberty would be.  Then I stamped and embossed the fireworks and the sentiment.  I spritzed it with shimmer spritz.  You can sort of see it on the black cardstock.  I'm crushing on this card!

Time Out Challege #74 - Theme Challenge

Hello friends!  There's a new challenge over at the Time Out blog.  This time it's a theme challenge and the theme is winter.  There's also a twist to use white on white with some neutrals added.

I'm sort of twisting this challenge.  I needed to create a blue sky, but the rest is white.  I watercolored the blue panel with a distress ink and splattered it with water.  Then I die cut some snowy hills and layered them on the watercolor piece.  The deer was also die cut from white.  What a cutie!  I wanted some trees in the background, so three were die cut from white as well and they were all layered in the hills.  The bottom looked too blank, so I added ribbon.  I haven't used ribbon in a while!  I stamped the sentiment and added the sequins.  Oh, and everything was sprayed with shimmer spritz (again!).

This challenge is sponsored by Uniko.  You can see what the prize is and more from the Time Out design team and our guest, Claire, on the Time Out blog.
