PMS Monday Challenge - Faux Silk

Have you ever tried this technique...faux silk? It's so easy! I had been putting off doing this challenge because I was certain it was going to give me a headache! I think I got one just worrying about it! Our fellow PMS DT member, Tina Hale, chose this technique for our challenge this week and I'm so glad she did! Here is a link to a great tutorial on SCS that Beate Johns did, and here is what I came up with.I hope you can click on the picture to see the wrinkles in the tissue paper (I've not been having luck with clicking on the picture feature lately!). I stamped the stars and flourish from Starstruck in Night of Navy and Yo Yo Yellow (when was the last time you used this bright color?) on a larger piece of tissue paper. Then I crinkled it up and flattened it out. I covered a piece of white cardstock with a glue stick, placed the tissue over it, and trimmed off the edges. That's it for the technique! Pretty easy, huh? One thing I do recommend is that you stamp on a piece of scrap paper to protect your surface because the ink does bleed right through the tissue paper. I wanted to leave more of the background, but my sentiment really covered a lot of it up. This sentiment is one of three great ones in the set. I liked this one because my ribbon has stars and moons on it. (I was just thinking...wouldn't this be a great graduation card?) I used a soft brush to add some color to the sentiment while it was still in the long rectangle nestie (I finally got to use these and PMS sells them!) and added the navy star. This card came together very easily and I really like the Yo Yo Yellow and Night of Navy together.

I hope you decide to try this technique (since I've just raved about it!). If you do, please link your direct post to Mr. Linky on the
PMS blog. You don't have to use PMS stamps, but if you have them, why not use them? If you post to SCS/PCP, please use the code PMSMC17. I can't wait to see all the entries! Thanks for stopping by today!

My Time Color Challenge

So it's Saturday and that means another My Time to Create Challenge. Today is a color challenge and these are the colors Lauren gave us for this challenge.
She gave us another challenge to go along with this...to use the Weiman Wranglers digi stamp set created by
Pink Cat Studio. It's a charity stamp set called the Weiman Wranglers with all proceeds going to the Make-a-Wish foundation in memory of Ethan Weiman. (Over $1,400 has been raised so far!) Ethan left behind a sister, Ava, who was his best friend. These images represent Ethan and Ava. You can read this post for more information. Here's my card for this challenge. Tracy Cuccia showed us how to place these two images side-by-side and create an upside down heart with the ends of the balloon strings. Cool, huh? I just love this sentiment from SU's Always...perfect for this card! I used SU's retired Outlaw dp and some jute ribbon. I ran some twine through the holes on the buttons, in keeping with the rustic theme.

Stop by the My Time DT blogs to see what they did with this set. Alicia (My Time DT member and Ethan's mom) even tried her hand at this set to make a memory book.

If you play our challenge, please upload your direct post to Mr. Linky on Lauren's blog. If you post to SCS/PCP, please use the code MTCC03. Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday!

Happy Birthday Katie!

Today is Katie Cotton's birthday (she is the owner of Paper Makeup Stamps) and I made this card for her. I used Katie the Makeup Fairy image, of course! Yesterday's Ways to Use It challenge on SCS was to use bold and bright colors. I used Regal Rose and this Sweet Always dp which had pink and orange in it. I thought that was pretty bold and bright! Katie is stamped on PTI white with Memento Tuxedo black ink. I colored her with various copic markers. I used a dauber and Regal Rose ink around the image, and as soon as I did that I knew it was a mistake! I don't like the way that looks. I need to get a nice soft brush for this technique and nix the daubers! The sentiment is part of the Fairy Sentiments set.

I carried the dp onto the inside of the card and punched the edge with the eyelet border punch. The sentiment is from PTI's Wishing You set.

I hope you can stop by
Katie's blog today and wish her a Happy Birthday! Thanks for stopping by today and have a great Friday!

CAS Challenge

My friend and fellow PMS DT member, Kim, plays in these CAS (clean and simple) challenges on SCS all the time and I thought I'd give it a go this week. I have a hard time with keeping things simple, so it definitely was a challenge for me! This CAS challenge involved paper piecing, which I LOVE to do, so I paper pieced this entire elephant from PMS called Enamored Elephant. I thought a pink elephant was appropriate! The dp is SU's Sweet Always and I colored his ears with R32 copic marker and his toes, paws and other shading was done with the W-copic markers. I layered him on an oval scalloped nestie which was sponged pretty in pink ink while still in the die. The same was done for the sentiment (this elephant and sentiment are a set, btw!). I ran the pretty in pink panel through the heart folder and added the white satin ribbon. I was going to make a bow, but decided that would be too much for a CAS card, so I just wrapped the panel in the ribbon. Simple card...only 15 minutes to put together!
Thanks for looking today and if you haven't seen the Weiman Wranglers charity digi set offerred up by Pink Cat Studio, please go to this post. It's being sold for a great cause, and almost $1,300 has been raised so far for the Make a Wish foundation! This stamping community is so awesome! Please stop by again real soon!

The Weiman Wranglers

Hello all! This is going to be a bittersweet post, but I want to tell you that I have another post today for the PMS Monday Challenge, so please scroll down to see that post!

My post last Monday (
here) contained some sad news about a little boy, Ethan Weiman, who went to live with the angels on June 12. He had neuroblastoma cancer and suffered with it for the past two years (he was almost 5 years old at his passing). His mom, Alicia, is on our My Time DT and we were so saddened my this news. Lauren Meader was especially touched by this because she has a daughter who also had cancer, but survived it and is now 10 years old. Lauren is on the DT for Pink Cat Studio and asked the owner, Melissa, to create a digital image of Ethan to be sold as a charity stamp. Well, Melissa went above and beyond that and created one of Ethan and another of his little sister Ava along with some sentiments. Ethan was a little cowboy and loved to ride horses. He always wore a black cowboy hat and loved balloons. Here is what Melissa created in digital images.

Aren't they adorable? They are priced very reasonably too. Either Ethan or Ava are priced at $4.00 and each will come with the two sentiments. If you buy the entire set, it will only by $6.00. All proceeds are going to the Make a Wish Foundation of Illinois per the Weiman family. You can read more about this on Melissa's blog here. Also, Lauren is sponsoring a contest. All you have to do is make something using these images, link them to her blog here and you have the chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Pink Cat Studio! How cool is that?

Melissa was so kind as to give the My Time DT these images to work with and promote them. You can see all of them
here and here is my version. Cute, huh? What a nice way to honor Ethan! I colored the image with copic markers, and cut and embossed it with nesties. I placed an embellishment on his belt buckle. The rust layer behind that was run through the paisley cuttlebug folder. The dp is SU's retired Outlaw (perfect for a cowboy card) and the ribbon is SU's chocolate chip grosgrain. The sentiment was cut and embossed with a nestied as well as the rust layer. Really cute and simple card, but I love it and the idea behind it. Like I said....bittersweet. Here are links to the DT so you can see what they came up with.

PMS Monday Challenge!

Are you ready for another PMS Monday Challenge? This week's challenge is a sketch challenge and it's hosted by Tangii Crain. She came up with a great sketch for us to use this week. The PMS DT all agreed that it was a great sketch to work with. Here is my take on this sketch. I used SU's new in colors again in the Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. I'm just loving these two colors. I haven't worked with the others yet, but I will soon! I started with this butterfly from PMS called Buggy Sayings. I colored it with a copic marker (I think RV14) and then went over it with some Pink Shimmerz paint. Love that stuff! It "shimmerz" so nicely! I cut and embossed the image with a nestie, and while it was still in the die, I sponged some Pretty in Pink ink around the butterfly, creating the white border. I ran a piece of Melon Mambo through the textile cuttlebug folder. The dp is SU's new Razzleberry Lemonade...so yummy! (These new colors and papers will be available on July 1st, btw!) I added a piece of SU's new Crushed Curry polka dot grosgrain ribbon, some primas, and crystal brads. I wasn't sure where to put a sentiment and which sentiment to add, so I left it off for another day! I just love how colorful this card is!

If you want to play along with our challenge, please post a direct link to your card to Mr. Linky on the PMS blog. If you post to SCS/PCP, please use the code PMSMC16 (I cannot believe we are at #16 already!). Thanks for stopping by today and I'll have another very important post today...a charity digi image that you won't want to miss!

Happy Father's Day!

So call me a bad daughter-in-law, but I hate making masculine cards! They are such a challenge for me and I dread when I have to make them! So my solution to that...CASE a card! LOL! I was strolling through the Mojo Monday blog because I hadn't been there (or any other of the blogs I used to visit) in so long and came across this card by Sarah. She did such a lovely job and I've always loved the SU dp Outlaw (I still have two packs of it!) so I decided to case it. I did use a different stamp. She used a new Verve Visual stamp and I used an old SU set called Headline Alphabet. I stamped it in chocolate chip on Mellow Moss. Sarah used pearls in the corner of her main image and I used brads. I also only used one layer for the star. I used the SU punch and she must have used a die because she had a smaller star layered on a larger one. So there are some changes made to my card!

What I really like about this card is the inside. I used another paper from the Outlaw dp and the stamps from PTI's Father Knows Best. I just love the sentiment and the way it looks on the dp. I hope you have a nice Father's Day today. Enjoy your day with your dad, husband, or whomever is important to you. I'll be spending my day with my hubby's family. We always go to breakfast (with his sister and her family and his parents) and then spend the remainder of the day with his parents after his sister leaves to visit her in-laws. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

My Time Template Challenge

Welcome to another My Time to Create Challenge! This week, we are using Lauren's templates at Papertrey Ink as part of our challenge, which is to make our own patterned paper to use on a template. I used one of Lauren's newest templates, called Pack a Picnic, which was just released this week. This basket is so large! I was shocked when I put it together! And there is a smaller version of it that comes with the download! Two for the price of one! So cool!

Now for my patterened paper. I had purchased the Guide Lines Grid sheets from PTI when they were released a couple of months ago, but had not used them. I thought this would be a good time to try it. I used one of the square stamps from the first Guide Lines stamp set to make my patterned paper. I also just received my SU order with all the new in-colors and wanted to try them out. I used Melon Mambo for the base and Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry ink for the patterned paper. Here is a close up of the patterend paper so you can see how I placed the images on the guidelines.I finished off the handles with the Crushed Curry polka dot grosgrain ribbon. The flower brads are SU as well. I edged the top of the basket with the eyelet border. There is a lid for the basket, but I chose not to use it this time. I wanted my fake fruit to spill out of it! (Actually I was too lazy to make it! LOL!) The image is from Paper Makeup Stamps called Picnic Fairies. It was also just released this month as part of the PMS summer release, and I used it in this card when we were previewing the sneak peeks. I colored the image with copic markers and added Star Dust Stickles for sparkle. I couldn't find a sentiment I liked for this image in rubber, so I just computer-generated my own!

I hope you decide to try this challenge. You can go to the PTI site here for the templates. They are so easy to download, print and put together, and they are very affordable (only $5). The instructions are so easy to follow. You can print the template right on your cardstock or on regular computer paper and use that as your guide to cut it out. This is what I do because cardstock always gets stuck in my printer! Time for a new one, I know! If you decide to play, go to Lauren's blog and leave a direct link to your project on Mr. Linky. If you post to SCS/PCP, use the code MTTC03. We can't wait to see what you come up with! Stop by the DT blogs to see what they've done, too! Thanks for stopping by!

PMS Clearance Extravaganza!

Hi all! I just wanted to pop in quickly and tell you about a great clearance extravaganza sale PMS is having. Normally this week would have been the PMS Super Tuesday sale when a handful of stamps have major price reductions. But instead, this month PMS is participating in a web wide Clearance Event started by Scrapbooking Roads. There are massive sales making 75% of the site on sale! Some of the prices are even priced below 50%! This is a great way for PMS to reduce their inventory while you increase yours! However, there is a catch! (There's always a catch isn't there?) Only a limited quantity of each item is available at the sale price. When that quantity is reached, the product will return to its normal price! You can go here to see what is on sale. You won't want to miss it!

PMS Monday Color Challenge and Sad News

Please make sure you read this entire post today...there's some sad news to share with you. But first I'd like to share my PMS Monday Challenge card. Jamie gave us this color challenge this week. She chose a great color combo...summer yellow, aqua, and chocolate. I used SU's Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, and Cool Caribbean (remember that one?). I started with this new fairy from the summer release called Katie the Makeup Fairy. As the DT was chatting one day about some fairies we'd like to see, someone said there should be a fairy putting on makeup! Katie Cotton (PMS owner) is a makeup artist as well, hence the name Paper Makeup Stamps! We were all very excited to have this stamp made! This is it's maiden voyage for me! Isn't she cute? There's a sentiment that goes with it that says "You Are Beautiful Inside and Out", but I don't have it! I thought I did, but I must have missed that one! So I used a PTI Mixed Messages sentiment instead. Katie is colored with various copics. The yellow dp is from SU's Good Morning Sunshine. The Cool Caribbean piece was put through a Sizzix folder called Lines and Circles. I got this for free at my LSS! She got some samples and offered one to me...how nice! Thanks, Sharon! The ribbon, scalloped mat and base of the card are all chocolate chip. Her makeup mirror was colored with a silver Spica glitter pen. I also glittered her up with Star Dust Stickles. Last, I added some crystal brads in the aqua and yellow colors. Stop by the PMS blog and see what the other DT members did with these colors. They've done another fantastic job with this challenge! If you post your card to SCS/PCP, please use the code PMSMC15 and if you link your card to Mr. Linky on the PMS blog, please link your direct post. We'd love to see what you've done with this challenge!

Recipe
Stamps: Katie Fairy (PMS), Mixed Messages (PTI)
Paper: PTI white, chocolate chip, cool caribbean, Good Morning Sunshine dp
Ink: Memento tuxedo black
Copic Markers: Y02, 15, 18; E00, 02, 33, 37; BG000, 01; R32; W-3, 5

Now for the sad news.
Alicia Weiman, a My Time to Create DT member and friend, has a four year old son, Ethan, who has been battling neuroblastoma cancer for about two years. I have been following her blog for about a year, and things have been up and down for a while now. He is the sweetest little boy and the pictures on her blog are just adorable (she also has a little girl, Ava, and the two of them seem like such great friends). About a week or so ago, Alicia said they brought Ethan home from the hospital to make him comfortable. There was really nothing more they could do to help this little boy. Alicia has been blogging about Ethan's jouney on her Caring Bridge blog, and I had been getting regular updates. It seemed that Ethan was doing ok...wanting to go fishing and such. I checked my email yesterday and found the email I had been dreading to receive. Ethan passed away on Friday. This family is deeply rooted in their faith and seem to have been prepared for this. Still, it must be a heartache that no one ever wants to experience.

The
My Time to Create DT has started a fund to help the family out during this difficult time. We are purchasing balloons (at the family's request) for Ethan's service because he loved balloons. We are also purchasing a gift card for food from Schwan's home delivery food service. Please know that any extra funds collected will be donated to the Weiman family. I have a Paypal set up on the top of my blog if you wish to contribute. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for stopping in today. Have a great week and remember to hug your children!

Kip the Baseball Fairy Becomes Kitty the Fairy!

Hi everyone! I needed a card for a friend's daughter who was recently hit in the face with a baseball and broke her nose and needed surgery. I wanted to use this new Paper Makeup stamp, but it's a boy, so I was trying to think of something else to use. Then I got the word that the color challenge for the PMS release party last Sunday was rose red, brocade blue, and night of navy and I knew just what I was going to do. I just added a pony tail and eyelashes to the image and Voila! Kip became Kitty! A sort of inexpensive sex change! LOL! Kitty is colored with a variety of copic markers and cut and embossed with an oval nestie. I layered it with a scalloped nestie in rose red and added the white dots on the scallops. The white dp is Bali Breeze and the other is a sheet from the rose red designer papers. The base is navy, but looks black in the picture. Her pants match the brocade blue color pretty well. I like the sentiment, although I wish it said "You Did What?!", but it fits well just the same. The ribbon has stitching on it that resembles the stitching on a baseball (I think!). There are stickles added all over the fairy for sparkle!
If you want to play along in this challenge, just hop over to the PMS Forum and add your card in the color challenge forum. You have a week to get them in and may win something! Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy the rest of your week!

PMS Monday Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! Did you join in on the fun yesterday at the PMS release party? I was having serious computer problems...I was only able to post one or two comments before being kicked off! My hubby kept making fun of me by saying I was booted out of the party! So mean! So, I wasn't there for any long period of time, but I did manage to post my two challenge cards. There were three challenges and you have until Sunday to get them done and post on the forum to win a prize!

This card is for today's PMS Monday Challenge which was to use something clear on our cards. This was Shaela's challenge, and she just about pushed some of us over the edge with this one, including me! I was having serious problems finding something that would work. I ended up using a clear button and three clear dew drops. That's why it's a challenge...to make you think and be creative!

This card is also for the third challenge from yesterday's party. We were to find a card in the PMS SCS gallery and CASE it, making some changes. I chose this card by Tangii Crain because I just loved that rounded corner. I used a new monster image from this month's release. He is called Baby Horatio...isn't he so cute? I also find it amazing that these monsters, dinos, and aliens all morph into the colors of my dp! This one just happened to morph into yellow and brown! LOL!

Stop by the PMS blog and see what the other DT have done with this challenge. Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great week!

PMS Blog Hop and Release Day!

Happy Sunday everyone! Today is the day...the PMS blog hop and release day! I hope you have been enjoying all the peeks! There are so many images being released today, but we have saved the best (IMO) for last...the fairies! Now, you should have arrived here from Dawn Knight's blog. If you've come to my blog first, you should go to the PMS blog and start there. Each blog you follow will have a letter that you must pick up. Katie's blog will be the last one you visit, and that's when you'll have all the letters to a secret code that will answer the question "What two new product sections are opening soon on the website?" as well as get you 10% off the entire store! So go back to the PMS blog and see all the fairies being released today as well as pick up your letters! I'll give you my letter at the end of this post!

I was given the cutest image to share with you today. It's called "Picnic Fairies" and I just love this image! It reminds me of my fourteen year old niece and young love. She has her first "friend that's a boy" as she put it! Not her "boyfriend"! Smart girl! Here's my card.

Just look at how she is gazing into his eyes with that cute grin! He looks just like a man...concentrating on his drink! LOL! The sentiment is new this month as well. I thought it was a good one for this image. The red and white check dp is SU's Bella Rose. I had this dp in mind the minute I saw this image. I paired it with the cherries dp which is I think SU's Summer Picnic. There were so many copic markers used on this image that I won't be posting all of them in my recipe! I used Crystal Effects on the watermelon and his glass, and I used Star Dust stickles all over the image for some fun sparkle.

Now for my letter. I will be giving you the letter "I". Now hop on over to Katie's blog where you will pick up the last letter. She will provide you with instructions on what to do with your secret code. I hope to see you later at the release party on the PMS forum. It starts at 4:00 est and if it's like the party last month, it should be a great time! There will be three challenges posted throughout the party, too! If you haven't signed up on the forum, please do so before the party begins. Then you'll have a lot of time to take part in the chatter and challenges! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you've enjoyed your hop!

My Time Saturday Sketch

Happy Saturday everyone! I only have two more weekends before school is done and I'm off for the summer! Can you tell I'm getting excited? I'm just thinking of all the time I'll have for more stamping and creating! These next few weeks will be a whirlwind as usual.
Card Making

Well, on with this great sketch Lauren provided today. I love her sketches...so easy to follow.

Here's my interpretation of the sketch minus the sentiment. It didn't fit because of my large flowers!

I used PTI's new set called Bird Watching. When I saw the two birdhouses in this set, I was sold! I love them! This one was colored with copic markers after I chose the dp, which is SU's Parisian Breeze Specialty paper. I love this paper because the the weight, texture and fab designs. I added some sparkle with a Sakura gelly roll pen. The flowers are primas (to which I also added some sparkle with the gelly roll pen), the buttons are from PTI's new release, and the ribbon is SU's chocolate chip grosgrain. The bird's nest is NOT real! It came from something I received as part of a gift, and I thought it would be perfect to add to the picture for staging. It matches perfectly!

Now here is the collage peek of the cards the DT created.
Why don't you stop by the DT blogs and see what their peeks really look like? Here they are.
If you decide to play, post your direct link to Mr. Linky on Lauren's blog, and if you post your card to SCS/PCP, please use the code mytimess33 so we can find it.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoy your weekend! Don't forget to stop by tomorrow because I'll have another PMS peek for you. We've saved the best (IMO) for last...the fairies! And there are some fabulous new ones you'll not want to miss seeing! We'll also have a blog hop all day and a release party starting at 4:00 est. See you tomorrow!

Monsters are in the House!

Hi everyone! Today is day three of the PMS sneak peeks and we have MONSTERS to scare you (but mostly make you smile) today! There are six new monsters being released this month as well as a Monster Sentiment set, which this one is from. My guy is called Birthday Monster. I just love his little grin with those fangs hanging out! I wasn't sure what color a Birthday Monster should be, so I just colored him orange to coordinate with my retired SU Jersey Shore dp. And his horns were begging to be colored green! The fuzzy thing on the top of his hat was covered with Liquid Applique and I sprinkled a little fine glitter over it before I heat set it. I placed some orange Candy Dots in the opposite corners. I love these! They are self-adhesive and come in a variety of colors. I don't know off-hand who makes them, but I got them at my LSS.
You really should go to the PMS blog and these blog of the PMS DT to see all the other great monsters being released on Sunday.

Nature's Song PMS Peek

Today is day two of the PMS sneak peeks and we are showcasing a new set called Nature's Song. There are five great sentiments and four really cute images included in this set. I think you would call them silhouette images, because they are solid images. I was planning on using a different image, but I'm working with digi images and I couldn't figure out how to crop another image out of the way (go figure!), so I had to change my plan. I really like this sentiment...it's so poignant. I hope everyone has a friend that knows the song in their heart. I know I do!

I wanted to use black as my stong color on this card because I was working with a black image and sentiment. I found this beautiful paper from DCWV called All Dressed Up. I love the papers in this pack, so much so that I have purchased three packs! Crazy, I know, but I just love it! This one reminded me of the PMS logo with with flourish and I loved it paired up with pretty in pink. I added a little pink to the bird's wing with a copic marker (RV21) and Star Dust Stickles to its wing, as well as to the outline of the flowers on the dp. It was looking a little plain, so I scalloped the bottom edges of each panel. It started out as a 4.25" square, but is now smaller since I scalloped the edges.
You can see more of this set if you visit the PMS blog or these PMS DT blogs:
Thanks for stopping by today, and tomorrow I'll have another PMS sneak peek, so make sure you come back for more!

PMS Dino Peek

Are you ready for the PMS June peeks to begin? The PMS DT is all ready to show off the brand new June release! We will be having peeks all week and a blog hop and release party on Sunday, so be sure to check in here and the PMS blog for more details!

Today we are previewing the dinosaurs illustrated by
Dustin Pike. Mine is called Iguanadon...Iggy for short!

I think he is just the cutest! I was so happy to be given this dino to work with! I love his markings and his plume thing on the top (sorry, don't know much about dinos...I should ask a five year old!). The sentiment is also new this month. It's one of seven sentiments in a set called Monster Sentiments. Wait til you see the other sentiments in that set...super cute!

I made this card last night and got my color inspiration from the color challenge going on yesterday at SCS...kiwi kiss, riding hood red, and tangerine tango. I didn't have any of the kiwi or red left, but I did have it in the textured cardstock. It took longer to decide on a layout than it did to color the little guy! Once I found the tangerine tango dp (that I didn't know I had), it all fell into place! The green and orange buttons are PTI and the red is something I picked up at JoAnn's. I added some kiwi and red cardstock behind the sentiment and some piercing around the image and dp and I was all set to go! Oh, I also added some crystal effects to his eyes. I did this at very last minute and was so afraid I was going to get that stuff all over the place and have to start over! That ever happen to you? I managed to pull it off with messing it up!

The DT has been hard at work getting their sneaks done too, so please stop by their blogs to see what they have in store for you.
